Gerri Sharpe, a proud Inuk woman hailing from Yellowknife with roots deeply intertwined with Gjoa Haven, radiates a commitment to uplifting and safeguarding the rights of women, especially those within the Inuit community. With a rich tapestry of experiences and a heart dedicated to service, Gerri's journey weaves through various regions of Canada, ultimately finding her current abode in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, where she nurtures a bustling family comprising two children and four cherished grandchildren.

Gerri's fervent advocacy journey commenced over seven years ago when she assumed a pivotal role on the Inuvik Transition House Board, a platform through which she ardently championed the cause of women's safety and well-being. Her dedication didn't stop there; she lent her voice and expertise to the Inuvik District Education Authority, imprinting her mark on educational initiatives vital for community growth. The corridors of influence extended further as she assumed the mantle of Vice President at the Beaufort Delta Education Council and contributed her insights to the NWT Human Rights Commission for a commendable five years, each stint reinforcing her commitment to societal progress.

In February 2022, Gerri ascended to the presidency of Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada, a monumental milestone in her journey of advocacy. In this esteemed position, she channels her passion and resolve towards the relentless pursuit of empowerment and equality for Inuit women nationwide. Inspired by the resilience entrenched within her community and her personal experiences, Gerri endeavors to carve out a more inclusive and just society for women and girls, leaving an indelible legacy of progress.
