Gifty Akorfa Quarshie | Ghana | It's Never Too Late

Yoga Instructor | Entrepreneur

My yoga journey started when I had my first child and wanted to lose weight but because of my work schedule (I used to work in an investment bank), I was not consistent with the gym hence I couldn’t reach my desired goals. I heard about yoga and it sounded interesting, therefore I did some research on it and realized I can get all that I need from the gym through yoga and I can practice it anywhere. I made it a point to attend every yoga class whenever I travel outside the country and eventually went to ONE of the best yoga teacher’s schools in the USA and got certified.

What advice would you give to an upcoming youth or talents locally and internationally?

The biggest initial hurdles was people associate yoga with chanting, they see yoga as religion so I used to get all negative comments especially Christians but because I was focused and really want to break that myth, I was not influenced by those comments, I rather used that as an opportunity to educate them about the types of yoga practice.
